CHAPTER 1: “Upon these white sands…”

To the West of the great continent of Kurn lies the Island Provinces of Pyrthe, home to brave seafarers, exotic pleasures, storms of swirling magical energy, and cults dedicated to the old gods.
Upon these white sands came the “Eve’s Watch”, a band of sell swords and brutes seeking their fortune upon the shores of these lands.
Allow me to tell you of this age of legends, for I, and I alone am the keeper of their saga.
This is their chronicle!
Join the Eve’s watch on their adventures through Pyrthe! We depart from the “fairy tale-esque” story told in “An Acorn’s journey: A DMD story” and embrace something grittier and pulpy. The grognard’s wanted to embrace the darker fantasy elements of their roots, the fantasy of Robert E Howard, Burroughs, and with a sprinkling of Lovecraft.

The battle draws to a close but who will emerge victorious? As the end of the battle for Birch Grove approaches, none will think that this end is just the beginning of a far broader and more dire adventure the party must embark upon!.
There has been talk about revisiting the Wylderynn or at least revisiting some of the characters. Scott, Bill, and Ben have been talking about a Longwei and Madry prequel detailing their first adventure together in the m mysterious and distant East. Maybe you will get to see that!

The final battle for Birch Grove begins. Dash and Madry confront the assassin in the Birch tree while Iring races ahead of the Faceless ones to stand with his comrades, and Longwei, Mo'Quee and Sun ready themselves and the Fairy militia for the impending assault!
The decision to switch to an actual play format was solidified when Frank told us he had worked in radio before and offered his editing services. We were sold! Frank really captures the "radio drama" feel we were looking for.

“The Battle for Birch Grove” Episode 4
“The child comes”
Madry and Iring set a trap for the Faceless Ones as Iring tells bad jokes. Dash moves into the Queen’s tree and stumbles into an assassination attempt. Sun snores after a long day of bossing around the Queen and flyers are sent out to get help.
This is not our first foray into a recorded game session. Just after the pandemic struck, we recorded a sci fi actual play called “The Belle and the belly of the beast”. It was about the crew of a freighter that was hired to deliver a group of scientists to an old gold mining operation. It was very unpolished and never aired. Maybe we will replay it and drop it as a one shot or part of a sci fi series. You let us know if you’re interested!

“The Battle for Birch Grove” Episode 3
“Aftermath”
Dash, Mo’Quee, Iring, Sun Glistens on the Water, Longwei and Madry take stock of the carnage after the first assault on Birch Grove. Longwei takes stock of the militia while Sun tries to save the lives of the wounded.
This DMD one shot is a six-part adventure that was recorded as “Microphone rehearsals” with the cast of “An Acorn’s Journey: A DMD story” to get them ready for playing on microphone. The characters were all pregens, with names and gear. DM Scott built the pregens and named them then they were handed over to DM Bill to assign gear and items. The cast picked through a pile of pregens and grabbed the ones they wanted. You did not get to see the Adras the Satyr Bard or Kung the Leonin Paladin but perhaps we will revisit the Wylderynn and you will get a chance to meet them.

“These things bleed”
Dash, Mo’Quee, Iring, Sun Glistens on the Water, Longwei and Madry defend Birch Grove from the first assault of the Faceless ones.
This DMD one shot is a six-part adventure that was recorded as “Microphone rehearsals” with the cast of “An Acorn’s Journey: A DMD story” to get them ready for playing on the microphone. The cast wanted to role-play a bit to get ready but roleplay alone is pretty boring so we played a session. This 6-part one-shot was an “off the cuff” improv session. DM Scott had nothing prepared. The original intent was to record some calls to action and character introductions.

Character death it’s hard, not hard like it’s hard to die in 5E (It really is) but hard in that, your players are emotionally invested in their characters and (if you’re doing a good job running) in other players’ characters. This is a make-it-or-break-it moment for the DM. How you handle the death of a character is equally important to how you do NOT handle the death of a character.
These are the talking points:
DON’T HAVE DEATH BE MEANINGLESS.
DON’T HAVE THEM ROLL A NEW CHARACTER AT THE GAME TABLE.
DON’T RIP UP THE CHARACTER SHEET (DICK MOVE).
DON’T LET THE PARTY LOOT THE CORPSE OF THEIR FALLEN FRIEND (DICK MOVE AGAIN).
DON’T APOLOGIZE FOR THE CHARACTER DEATH.

This week we are talking about making your table more accessible for players with disabilities. As a disclaimer, none of us are disabled, so we have no real knowledge of what it is like. What we do know is, D&D is a game for EVERYONE, and we as a community should see that EVERYONE is able to enjoy the game.
